Weekly Market Update

New to the Market: Plantains!

Do you know the difference between a banana and a plantain? Many people confuse plantains with bananas. Although they look a lot like green bananas and are a close relative, plantains are very different.
They are starchy, not sweet, and they are used as a vegetable in many recipes, especially in Latin America and Africa.
Plantains are sold in the fresh produce section of our market, they usually resemble green bananas; ripe plantains may be black in color.

Staff Highlight

Meet Crystal
The queen of hugs & laughs! This sweet lady works with us once a week packaging produce and grocery. Coming to Ralph’s is a highlight of the week for her, “I like you guys, you are funny and make me laugh! I’ve worked here for so long!”

Crystal has been working with us for a while now, she was with us at our old market and is a big help to us!
When Crystal isn’t at Ralph’s she says she’s busy at home doing chores, going grocery shopping or enjoying visits with her family, “it means an awful lot to be around them!” ⁣

We asked Crystal what her favourite food is here at Ralph’s. She really enjoys Elizabeth’s house made soups from scratch in our Bistro, she’s says it warms her right up!

Thank you Crystal for being on our team, you are a shining light that brings all of us much joy.
